Every commission begins with a conversation. Martin will take the time to understand:

Where possible, Martin will visit the site himself. As with his own series, he gathers:

• On-site sketch drawings and compositional studies

• A considered colour palette

• Digital and 35mm photography

• Notes on light, orientation and context in the landscape

• Local knowledge and stories that add depth and authenticity

This careful research ensures that the painting is not only accurate, but also richly characterful and specific to you.

Martin takes on a limited number of commissions each year to ensure he can give each work the attention and research it deserves. Timelines will depend on:

• The complexity and size of the piece

• Location and access for site visits
